Public channel

The tcmimesh channel for Traverse City Meshtastic is intended to be public. Anyone with a compatible Meshtastic radio can join.

Private infrastructure

Core broker and gateway services are centrally managed so the public RF channel can stay easy to use.

Participating gateways can bridge traffic through mqtt.tcmimesh.org using TLS.

Open Meshtastic and add a new Secondary channel named tcmimesh at channel index 4.

Paste the published 256-bit channel key.

Enable both MQTT Uplink and MQTT Downlink on that channel if your node acts as a gateway.

Save the channel and let the node reboot/apply its configuration.

MQTT credentials are not published on this page. Gateway operators can be issued access for the Traverse City Meshtastic namespace.

The public channel key and MQTT broker address are safe to share. Broker credentials remain separate so the service cannot be trivially abused.
